Why Quassy is an Awesome Family Destination
Bigger kids can hop aboard some thrilling rides at Quassy Amusement Park in Connecticut.
There are dozens of rides to try at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark; more importantly there is probably something for everyone from the littles to your teenage thrill-seekers. All the rides (even the ones in Splash Away Bay) are designated Kiddie, Family or Thrill, so you know exactly what you are getting into before you actually... "get into it."
Quassy has plenty for little ones. The smallest in your group will enjoy the Boat Rides, Frog Hopper, the Kiddie Bumper Cars and the Little Dipper Roller Coaster (a great introduction by the way). To ride most of these rides, kids have to be between 32' and 36' and have a desire to try something new! Families can go on some rides together as well like the beautiful Grand Carousel (my fave!), the Quassy Express Train, and Crazy Cups.
Must See Attractions at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark
Thrill-seekers will find that Quassy offers some memorable fun. The Wooden Warrior is a creaky, bumpy, sort-of old fashioned roller coaster that will take you back and for new riders is a great place to start. You will find a few other familiar rides like the the Super Himalaya, bumper cars, and the Tidal Wave (swinging ship).
Beat the heat at Quassy Park's Splash Away Bay, with water park fun for all ages!
Splash Away Bay at Quassy Amusement & Waterpark
This is one of the Best Outdoor Water Parks in New England for Family Fun! Splash Away Bay opened at Quassy in 2003 with Saturation Station, the big bucket of water that dumps out of patrons periodically. From then on other features were added, such as the Bullet Bowl and Tunnel Twisters - all of which are "get-wet" rides. The giant water raft rides are a favorite of older kids (42' to ride alone). Meanwhile your younger splashers can participate in their own level of fun with Slide City's short and sweet tubes. They can also just play in the water in the Frog Pond (a very low-key and fun place for tots).
Splash Away Bay is literally a full day of play by itself. Anyone entering Spash Away Bay must be in a swimsuit.
Fun Play at the Midway
Besides rides, there are midway games as well. Quassy Quest Laser Maze, Dead Eye Shooting Gallery, and a decent size arcade with a cashless card swipe system. Look for Whack-A-Mole and Quassy's "zoo," which has large statues of animals that kids are welcomed to climb on.

Visiting Quassy Amusement Park: What to Know Before You Go
One of the biggest draws about the park is it's reasonable size. For any parent toting children, strollers, beach bags, and snacks, etc. you’ll be happy to know the parking lot is located adjacent to the park entrance and the entrance is centrally located between kiddieland and the water park. Strollers are available for rent and lockers can be rented at Splash Away Bay to tuck away your wallet or purse while you play with the kids. The park is also smoke-free.
The park has three restroom facilities (outside of the water park, as you enter the park and outside the pizzeria) and diaper changing stations too.
Planning a day at Quassy? Pack sunblock, cash and wear comfortable shoes, because the kids will want to see everything!
Quassy is open daily in the Summer, with weekend hours in late Spring and Early Fall. All-day tickets start at $27, but there are a variety of discounts, including half-day passes after 4 pm. Check the website for details.
Eating at Quassy Amusement Park
Food options are somewhat varied and will definitely appeal to kids, which is a relief to mom and dad. Familiar faves like mac n cheese, hamburgers, hot dogs, and the ever-popular chicken tenders are on the menu at the Quassy Restaurant. And no, mom and dad don't have to eat that stuff; they can choose salads or gyros. There is also a pizzeria, ice cream, and fried dough.
