Ragamuffin Parades: Costume Parades for Westchester Families

Halloween is just around the corner! In addition to our list of top outings for this month, there are seasonal celebrations all over town, including a plethora of ragamuffin parades. (Did you know these actually started out as a Thanksgiving Day tradition?) 

In addition to traditional marches, some towns go a step further with carnivals, entertainment, live music and more. Read on to find out where to join the ragamuffin tradition in Westchester!

Ragamuffin Parade - Tarrytown

Parade begins at Patriot's Park and ends at the Main Street Firehouse.
Join your fellow ragamuffins in Tarrytown and enjoy food, music and more fun after the march. FREE

Ragamuffin Parade - Larchmont
Saturday, October 22, 2016
Parade begins at the corner of Palmer and Larchmont Avenues.
This annual event has drawn huge crowds in the past! The parade begins promptly at 1pm so be sure to arrive on time so you don't miss the fun (line-up is at 12:30pm). Rain Date is Saturday, October 29. All ages welcome. FREE

Ragamuffin Parade and Carnival - New Castle
Sunday, October 23, 2016
Parade begins at Chappaqua Train Station and marches down Greeley Avenue.
The New Castle Recreation & Parks Department is hosting their annual Carnival and Ragamuffin Parade. Join the parade and enjoy a full day of fall fun while you're there. There will be music, games, rides, go karts, a bounce house and more. Carnival starts at 12:30pm and the parade begins at 3:30pm. Stay for more carnival fun after the parade. Rain date is Sunday, October 30. All ages welcome. Parade is free; carnival attractions carry a fee.

Ragamuffin Parade - Pleasantville
Saturday, October 29, 2016
Parade goes from Bedford Road School to Memorial Plaza.
When you're finished marching in this morning parade, there will also be rides, pumpkin decorating and other fun.

Ragamuffin Parade - Briarcliff Manor
Saturday, October 29, 2016
Parade goes from the Operating Engineer Building to the Fire House.
The Briarcliff Manor Ragamuffin parade (which is for residents only) will kick off at 9:30 and march down Pleasantville Road. A magic show and refreshments will be provided at the Fire House. If it rains, the parade will be canceled but the fun will still take place indoors at 10 am at the Fire Department Headquarters.  

Eastchester Ragamuffin Parade - Eastchester
Sunday, October 30, 2016
Parade goes from Eastchester Middle School to Eastchester Town Hall.
Ragamuffins can also enjoy treats, a DJ dance party and goodie bags after the parade. Open to preschoolers through sixth graders. FREE
