Mother's Day may look a little different this year. Heck, Mother may look a little different this year (ever notice that root is a four-letter word?), but all the more reason that Mama needs a little pampering. If you're Mom, stop reading right here and pass the laptop to the nearest family member—then await your surprise on a tray in bed.
For the rest of you: Mother's Day meals cooked at home are delightful only if you plan to do the dishes. Otherwise, let's move on to delivery and curbside takeout. Wonderful, indulgent, luxurious, and downright comforting restaurants all over Los Angeles are offering Mother's Day brunch treats from red velvet waffles and Thai tea pancakes to chicken 'n' waffles and breakfast cocktails. And lest we forget, many of these restaurants are local small businesses we love; every one of the delivery and pick-up options below is a local business we want to be there when it's safe for dining in to resume.
So mark your calendars for May 10th, start working on your homemade Mother's Day cards, and go ahead and pass Mom back the computer now so she can tell you where to order from.

Note that most restaurants offer curb-side pick-up, and many offer delivery via LA's wide variety of delivery apps as well. A few are able to provide their own delivery service, which is a great way to make sure all of your money goes to that local restaurant you love.
1. Marmalade Cafe
Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Malibu, Calabasas, El Segundo, Westlake Village, Los Angeles
If we know Mom, Eggs Benedict and $5 cocktails for brunch would be right up her alley. Indulgent Marmalade Cafe has seven locations around the LA area, all of which offer curbside pick-up or can do delivery through services like grubhub.
2. Truxton's American Bistro
Westchester, Torrance, & Santa Monica
Truxton's weekend brunch options are delicious and healthy, and can be accompanied by cold brew coffee on tap as well as something decadent like, say, a spicy strawberry margarita or cucumber gin breakfast cocktail. Delivery is free, or pick-up is smooth and contactless. If you decide to have the special meal a little later in the day, the daily Blue Plate Special is just $7 for adults and $3 for kid—leaving more in the budget for an extra Rosemary Pom Fizz.

3. Hugo's
Studio City, West Hollywood
We for sure love Hugo's for its variety of fresh, hearty, creative, and healthy breakfast options. Under normal circumstances we would already be sold on Mother's Day brunch at Hugo's. But these aren't normal circumstances, and Hugo's has gone above and beyond by promising free meals for kids for the rest of this not-really-school year. "Being a parent is the most important job you will ever have, and we want to help make certain that our locally-sourced, fresh made meals find their way to the tables that need them the most," says Hugo's website. Sounds like someone to spend Mother's Day with. Contactless pick-up and delivery are both offered.
4. Madre
Palms & Torrance
You can't overlook a restaurant called Madre on Mother's Day, right? Especially since an Oaxacan brunch can include mole, which is basically chocolate on your eggs. Mmm. The cocktails are also enticing (Mezcal Bloody Mary sounds like the perfect pandemic punch), and all these treats are available either for curbside pick-up or delivery.
5. Mel's Drive-in
West Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Santa Monica
Mel's knows how to make the best out of a bad situation: the old-school LA diner is reviving a popular feature from its past: carhops. Three SoCal locations offer the option of driving up, ordering from the parking lot (by phone or in person), and having it delivered to your car by Mel's carhops, just like on Happy Days. Kids make out especially well in the new service; their meals are free as long as schools are closed and served in miniature cardboard convertibles. Mom can treat herself to a half-priced milkshake (as can any other adult). All-day breakfast is available for delivery as well as by carhopping.

6. Bea Bea's
Toluca Lake, Glendale
How about treating Mom to pancakes far more decadent than she would ever make herself at home? Leaving IHOP in the dust, this Valley pancake hub flips flavors like Strawberry Brownie, Thai Tea, and Blue Hawaiian (to name just a few). Waffles, crepes, and French toast have just as many intriguing varieties. The breakfast options definitely don't stop there; every family member will for sure be happy. Delivery and pick-up are both offered at both locations.
7. Green Street Restaurant
Pasadena
This favorite brunch spot knows how to treat Mom right. The champagne cocktails have guava, ginger, and rose petals; need we say more? OK, I guess we could mention the food: how about breakfast burgers, pulled pork Benedict, or fig butter toast? Curbside pick-up and delivery are both in place.
8. Fromin's Deli
Santa Monica
For classic breakfast in bed ordered off a menu that just doesn't stop, you can't do better than the local deli. Fromin's has been cooking up top-notch comfort food for generations and has the whole menu available for pick-up or delivery. Go this route, and you could toss in some matzo ball soup or pastrami for a second Mother's Day meal!

9. The Rockefeller
Redondo Beach
We had to find at least one brunch option delivering good old-fashioned chicken 'n' waffles, and then take it up a notch for Mama with some tropical flavors of mimosa. If you were thinking that there are other Rockefellers in the South Bay you'd be right, but only the Redondo Beach location is still cooking up its brunch delights for delivery and pick-up.
10. Kitchen 24
Hollywood
The kitchen might not be open 24 hours during the current crisis, but it's still open by 9am to cook up a fine breakfast for Mother's Day. The huge menu features extravagant morning treats like Red Velvet Waffles, Garden Frittata, and Breakfast Pot Pie that can be delivered for the whole family to enjoy in Mom's bed. Don't forget to add a mimosa or Bloody Mary!

11. El Cholo
Mid-city, DTLA, Santa Monica, Anaheim, La Habra
If Mamacita is more about the margarita than any special breakfasty display, El Cholo is happy to provide its classic margaritas by the gallon (or the quart if a gallon seems like overkill). The Los Angeles institution has only recently re-opened to offer curbside pick-up of its traditional Mexican favorites. And for some Angelenas, chunky guacamole and bottomless margaritas at home could be the perfect Mother's Day celebration.
