Know Before You Go to a Long Island Christmas Tree Farm

  • Experienced tree-cutters recognize that rarer species like blue spruce and white pine sell out early in the season.
  • While some places provide handsaws and rope, it’s not a bad idea to pack both, just in case.
  • Dress appropriately. These farms are all in the open air, and the wind does tend to howl on Long Island in late autumn.
  • Not all places take credit or debit cards. Bring cash or a check just in case.
