Have a Bashing Good Time at Farmingdale's iSmash

blog

Whether you're looking to destroy and decompress or get crafty and creative, iSmash in Farmingdale has your crew covered. This smash-and-splatter paint space brings a unique experience to the heart of downtown Main Street.

After smashing up a bunch of stuff, my teenage boys said it was the best activity they'd ever done, so this place definitely appeals to a certain audience!

Know Before You Go: iSmash Farmingdale

The concept at iSmash is simple: You sign up to smash items or splatter paint. In the smash rooms, guests ages 8 and up can hurl phones and fax machines across the room, smash bottles against a bullseye painted on the wall, or crush a windshield with a baseball bat–after watching an instructional video and being outfitted in safety gear of course. Jumpsuits, goggles, face shields, gloves–they've got a real construction worker vibe going on here.

We tiptoed around the smash room at first. Rifling through the box of items we could recklessly smash to smithereens. It was an odd feeling since the phrase "be careful" is uttered countless times a day from my lips. We wrapped our hands around crowbars and sledgehammers–tools most of us had never handled –and took turns swinging. Our collective cautionary tone was replaced with sheer adrenaline. And when we left, my boys said this was their favorite activity we've ever done. Bold statement, I know!

Four smash packages offer 20-50 minutes of sheer destruction. Add-ons include optional car windshields, glass confetti bombs, and more. You can also purchase a taping of your sesh to see who really had a smashing good aim. Folks can also choose to bring in their own box of items to destroy (pending approval).

Choose from two paint splatter rooms and two packages that offer 20-50 minutes of messy fun. Gear up in protective clothing and step into a groovy glow-in-the-dark room. Blank canvases await each artist's creativity. Using squirt bottles filled with colors, you can be as deliberate or as random with your painting style.

As much as I wanted a planned portrait, I let them splatter, smear, and squirt until their heart's content. Then we got to take home our creations as a crafty memento. They're hanging in our basement as they don't really match the rest of my home's mid-century modern decor.

While walk-ins are accepted based on availability, advanced reservations are encouraged.

Both experiences offer birthday party packages where guests are encouraged to make a complete mess and someone else will clean it all up. Their multiple rooms can accommodate smashers/painters and groups as large as 15 people. Their party rooms are perfect for socializing, food, and cake. The friendly folks at iSmash can arrange it all for you or you can bring in your own fare.
